CHANGE!

Thanks to the help of Cole NeSmith and Jake Leboeuf I now have a real life website.

DREAMERYFILMS.COM

It has a blog on it, I'll be posting there instead of here.
Too much work to post two places, you know?

So I suggest you start checking that to keep up with me.

Cool?

If

If given the option to do what I'm planning to do tomorrow, or going cliff jumping on a tropical island.

I would choose the latter.

I'm sure most of you would too.

Videos!

I've been putting finishing touches on various things the past few days.

and with this semi-week off school I have from wrapping production I will be working way hard on various other things as well.

Here's two more things I finished this week.

Go Plus!

Today I upgraded to Vimeo plus.

It was a pretty great decision.

Now I can embed videos in HD.
Like this one.

Life in Super 8 from Michael Dalton on Vimeo.
music by Unwed Sailor.

I'm exporting 3 different things as I type this, so I will post more things as they finish.

If you're into metal, go pre-order Depravity.
I know I already did.

More colored parts on my arm tomorrow.
and I have a week off since production just wrapped.

I'll post some stills when I get them.

The Next 5 Days Will Be Spent

Directing.

Bringing my A game.

Listening intently.

Leading by example.

Giving it all I've got.

Being picky.

Loving.

Helping.

Glorifying.

Making it happen.

Today I:

Swam in murky waters.

Searched for the best looking spot in a cemetery.

Ate Chik-Fil-A.

Rode my bike through downtown looking for the Circus train.

Bought my first V Neck.

Ran through the streets to catch up with the Elephants.

Had mixed emotions watching them walk, holding each others tail with their trunks.

Ate Zaxby's.

Made last night's dream come true, except better.

My Recent Exploits

I went home for Christmas break, it was a bit colder in the Carolinas than here in the Sunshine State.

But, family time was beautiful.

I've taken two rolls of film since then.

I now present them to you.
( Same Pentax K1000 / 50mm prime lens / 400 ASA)

We had Christmas at home on what we call "Christmas Adam", the day before Christmas Eve.

This is how I think of my mom.

My mom gave my sister a new purity ring, which had the diamond from her engagement ring.
I'm not sure my sister really grasped it all. But I thought it was an epic Mother/Daughter moment.

Then we all packed in the Hyundai and drove up to good 'ol Danville, VA.

We stopped by Midtown Market. They have my favorite Chicken Salad, as well as the beast Oatmeal Cream Sandwiches I have ever tasted in my life.

James Edgar Paul. I call him Papa. My mom calls him Daddy.
I took down his oral history and the history of our family while I was back.
That will be soon to follow.

Oscar De La Hoya Paul. He's been through a lot, but he's got a great life.

Biscuitville. Enough said.
I got to spend some time with my pal Eric Shelton. Our friendship was born from some awkward times. But it's been forged in fire.

The 17 years of life I spent in Danville I drove/rode past Dan River Mills almost every day. It's a textile mill that was opened pre-WW2. I always wanted to go inside. The plants have been closing down, and tons of people have lost their jobs.

Christmas Eve, Mandrew and I made that happen. They have started tearing it down and selling the scraps.

This is a huge bridge over the Dan. Cross the Dan through the bridge: Life goal, accomplished.

I titled this one Carnage. I don't even care how ridiculous you think it is. That day was epic.

We lurked through that place hard.
We had the type of conversations brothers have when they don't see each other that often.
Deep.
Intense.
Intentional.
About girls, plans, adventures.

The construction crew almost caught us on our way out.
So we made a run for it through the tall grass and over the fence.

"I want it too look like 'We just ran from some construction workers and didn't get caught'."
Then we sat like brothers under a bridge. Where friends before us had left their mark for the city to remove.

The past flowed like the water under the bridge.

and Hearts burned brighter.

Cut to:

EXT. CITY VIEW PARKING GARAGE - NIGHT- NEW YEARS '08-'09.

Fireworks.
Friendship.
and a bit of blood.

Life as of late has involved a lot of location scouting for our thesis.

I like the concept of going places just to look at them, and think about how appealing we could make them.
I like the hanging out it involves.
I like how pensive we all seem as we walk around looking at trees and reflections in the water.

This day led us to a burning building. I snuck in as close as possible to see the boys at work.

Lastly. Here's some Winter Park chillin' with a mustache, that I can't remember who it belonged to originally.

and Kacie and Lori's daisies.

Here is one last shot from a job I did with Maven the other day.
Featuring the world renowned, Jonpaul Douglass.

You redeemed me.
You redeemed this tired soul.
And these tired bones.
Your Name, breaks the shackles.

Your Name, breaks the shackles.
Your Face gives me rest.
Your Name, breaks the shackles.

They used to dance...

Some more pentax shots for your eyes to see.

I have to finish a roll before developing my stuff from Virginia.

These are some shots from pre-pro for our thesis.

You don't need a new year to change your life.
You just need to do it.
